Details on our program can be found in our original announcement of the festival, which has been archived here: » Information on the Africa Festival Thursday July 15 through Friday, July 16, 2010; in Freudenstadt: CONFERENCE OF THE SYNOD OF THE EVANGELICAL CHURCH OF WÜRTTEMBERG IN FREUDENSTADT: After starting out with a service in Freudenstadt's town church, and then continuing in the city's congress center, the regional evangelical church's synod will hold its annual summer convention focusing on this year's main topic on wealth and the limitations of poverty — a theme overlapping with our society's work. In public meetings, well-known experts will discuss current problems in development cooperation and globalization.
Following, and supplementing, the synodal convention, a summer-festival-like evening event will take place on the area of the lower market place between the fountains and Freudenstadt town church. We will participate in this event with our society's information stand, presenting material on our aid projects in Kenya. Other programs that evening will include presentations of several member bodies and suborganizations of the Evangelical Church of Württemberg, including the church's social welfare services, regional church-related social and youth organizations, the YMCA, evangelical children's and youth choirs, brass instrument bands and the church's adult education program. » Back to Archives » Back to News Glimpses from our 2010 Project Voyage to KenyaOffice of Foerderkreis Kenia Freudenstadt e.V., Germany. Updated version. Original English version first published September 05, 2010. Size: 6 pages. In February and March 2010, a delegation of our society went to Kenya in order to visit the projects and those individuals receiving support, checking out the current state of our projects and thus making sure that the trustful and valuable cooperation with our Kenyan partners be intensified, and further deepened. Their report together with several snapshots, which have been carefully scrutinized and selected for the society's web page is available by clicking on the following links. Please do note that, due to data protection and privacy reasons, only a small number of the images taken during our voyage can be published here. In addition to the projects mentioned on this website, we are also supporting persons in need in the following towns, and villages: Nakuru; Siakago; Thika; Hola; Hongwe; and Nairobi. Those images that we deemed suitable for publication are available on the following pages. Due to the number and size of the image files, we recommend viewing these pages using a modern broadband, i.e. high-speed, Internet connection. With dial-up connections using slow analog modems, page-loading times of at least one to several minutes are to be expected:» Highland Views » Visits to the Tana River Region » Visit to the AIDS Orphan Project in Baharini » Inland and Coastal Region Views » Rabai — Dr. Krapf's Historic Missionary Station » Additional Images and Visits to the Highlands |
