Agenda 2014

Wednesday, February 12, 2014 through Thursday, February 27, 2014; Kenya:
INVITATION TO JOIN OUR 2014 PROJECT TRIP TO KENYA.
For many Europeans, Africa is still a continent associated with clichés on safaris and catastrophes. Most reports on the continent center on war activities, crimes or natural disasters including famine and drought. Few reports cover well-working parts of those countries' economies or the positive aspects of life south of the Sahara. Participants of our project trip will experience what true African life is about, including the diversity of ethnic groups, animals, the beauty of a unique geography, the Indian Ocean, and last but not least poverty and its implications. Without participating in the everyday life of our African partners, we have no chance of gaining any insight into what our work is all about. To this end, we will visit some of the projects sponsored by our society.
Travel details including particulars on how to participate are available at the society's main office. Note that this is a private endeavour with all travel costs being paid by those joining in (nothing paid by the society).

Saturday, June 28, 2014; Freudenstadt:
14th FREUDENSTADT AFRICA FESTIVAL
11.30 a.m. thru 6 p.m.: The information stand of Foerderkreis Kenia e.V. Freudenstadt presents our work in Africa.
Venue: Lower Market place, near Protestant Town Church.
SOCIETY PROGRAM:
  1. Image Exhibition:
    Time: 11:30 a.m. thru 18:00 p.m.
    Venue: Near entrance of Protestant Town Church
    The focus of this year's image exhibition is on the
    • aid projects supported by the society.
    • Free take-away information flyers available.
    • Our society members will be glad to answer all of your questions.
  2. Café-and-information Tent:
    Time: 11:30 a.m. thru 18:00 p.m.
    Venue: Near entrance of Protestant Town Church
    To raise funds for the aid projects, the society's café-and-information tent will again sell
    • German sausages,
    • non-alcoholic beverages,
    • coffee, and
    • delicious homemade grandma' and housewife cakes.
  3. Presentation (in German): "Our experiences in Kenia 2014."
    Time: 3 p.m.
    Venue: parish convention hall, 36 Market Place:
    • Two society members are presenting their travel report with an elaborate digital slide show.
    • No entrance fees!
    • We would appreciate your donation for financing a Kenyan accident victim's prosthetic limb.
  4. Church Service for Africa
    Time: 6 p.m.
    Venue: Protestant Town Church, Freudenstadt:
    At 6 p.m. you are invited to attend the Protestant Town Church's evening service held by retired school dean Dietrich Elsner with participation of our society's team members.
Note: In the meantime, the Africa festival was concluded successfully. We would like to thank all visitors, who stopped by at our information stand having vivid and interesting discussions with our society's members. All interested parties are invited to join in next year and visit the society's information tent again in 2015.

During the "Burgermesse" fair Freudenstadt, interested parties may visit the society's information booth.

VOLUNTEERS' ANNUAL FAMILY & BARBECUE FEST 2014
Members, friends of the society and their families are again invited to participate in this year's volunteers' family & barbecue fest. For information on how to participate you may contact the society's office.
